Targeting Excellence would like to thank everyone who attended the 2nd annual Pennsylvania Targeting Excellence Sporting Clay event. It was held on Thursday, September 24 at the Blue Ridge Sportman Club in Harisburg, PA. Approximately 170 people participated in the event including 24 students.
A 2010 Ag Careers study reported that in the next 15 to 20 years, 77 million baby-boomers will retire with only 44 million generation-Xers to backfill their jobs. Many of the retiring baby-boomers are the builders and leaders of food animal production programs as we know it today. Our industry must be proactive, or there will be an unavoidable shortfall of qualified students interested in careers in food animal production.
