2017 Scholarship Recipient - Associate Award (Ohio)

Thank you so much for awarding me this scholarship. Being able to put this money towards my future is an honor. I was very pleasantly surprised of the essay question about VFDs as it’s a very big issue in the industry today. In my future endeavors I plan to continue advocating for agriculture and educating consumers of our industry practices. Thank you again as this money will go a long way in my future!

Hometown: Pemberville, OH

School: Hutchinson Community College

Major / Species: Animal Science

Career Goals: Growing up in an agriculture based family, I’ve known from an early age that I wanted to work with livestock. I have always looked up to my mother and how successful she has been with her veterinary practice which has pushed me to pursue vet school as well. I am currently studying at Hutchinson Community College with an Animal Science major and competing on the collegiate livestock judging team. After I finish my sophomore year I plan to transfer to Ohio State to finish my undergraduate and work towards being accepted into the school of veterinary medicine. After which I would like to move back home and work alongside my mother at her clinic. I also plan to specialize in embryology after vet school because of the large need for specialized veterinarians in the cattle industry. As you can tell I have large goals which includes a lot of schooling and with the help of this scholarship I hope that you will see me as a viable candidate to be honored to receive a scholarship.
