Dr. Maurice Eastridge, Professor and Extension Dairy Specialist, has been on the faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University since March 1986. He received the AS and BS degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and his MS and PhD from Purdue University. His primary responsibilities include teaching, Extension, and research in dairy cattle nutrition. He conducts educational programs on the feeding of dairy cattle and research on fat and fiber sources for lactating dairy cows and the fatty acid composition of milk. He is the leader of three courses and lectures in several other courses. He advises about 30 undergraduate students per year and also advises graduate students. In addition, he serves as one of the advisors for the Buckeye Dairy Club. At the university and college levels, he has been recognized for his outstanding service to students and student development, and he has received several awards for his Extension and research programs, including the DeLaval Dairy Extension Award (2001) and the Nutrition Professionals, Inc. Applied Dairy Nutrition Award (2013) from the American Dairy Science Association. In 2013, he also was awarded the Mid-Career Alumni Award from the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University. He chairs the Planning Committee for the Tri-State Dairy Nutrition Conference and is editor of the Buckeye Dairy News.
