Chad Achenbach

I hope to work in and promote the agricultural industry for the rest of my life. Growing up on my family’s dairy farm which then transitioned to a small hobby farm consisting of; beef, swine, sheep, horses, poultry, and rabbits, I cannot see myself in any other industry. I am interning at Peoples State bank this summer as an AG Lender intern. If I enjoy this internship, I will continue to pursue becoming a full-time AG Lender with a farm on the side. My goal is to have beef and swine show stock that I can sell to local 4-H and FFA kids. I grew up very invested in the show industry and this is something I want to continue for the rest of my life. I think one of the best ways to promote agriculture is to get kids involved hands-on. The agricultural industry is in dire need of people to promote it because it takes major hits from the media every day. I also have the goal of promoting agriculture by becoming a 4-H leader and helping lead kids in my local chapter. I believe these goals would create the ideal career because they would allow me to work with farmers and help them grow their businesses by satisfying their needs while also influencing the next generation in the agricultural industry. Eventually, I want to become a full-time farmer with more crop land, a larger herd of beef and more confinement style hog operation.
