Thank you so much for this generous scholarship for my freshmen year at NC State University. I am looking forward to majoring in poultry science and minoring in feed mill management this fall and learning even more about the agriculture industry on campus, in North Carolina, the U.S., and the world. I am excited about gaining hands-on learning experiences and leadership experiences while at NC State so I can be a part of this vast industry. Thank you once again for this scholarship!
At this time I am going to major in poultry science with a minor in feedmill management. I may decide to double major or minor in animal science as well. After earning my degree at NC State I am considering attending Kansas State to major in feedmill management. As of today, my plan is to be a feedmill manager. After taking almost all the agriculture classes offered at my high school and attending various camps at NC State University it cemented my interest in the animal side of agriculture. My first camp was Livestock Science camp in 2019 and tour farms such as the Dairy Farm, Beef Unit, Swine Unit, Mule City Feed Mill, and the Reedy Creek Equine Farm. In summer 2021, I attended three summer camps affiliated with NC State University: Institute of Future Agriculture Leaders, Prestage Poultry Science Summer Institute, and the Hugh Shelton Leadership Challenge. After attending these camps I decided I was interested in the industry side of agriculture and feed milling. I was able to take a tour this summer of a large commercial feed mill and I found the whole process very interesting.
