To all Targeting Excellence Sponsors, Board Members and Committee personnel, thank you for your time and dedication to this program! Your efforts to support students in agriculture is sincerely appreciated and I am personally grateful! Thank You!
I am currently pursuing a career involved in the livestock production industry. I grew up on my families third generation farm and have had the privilege of working first hand with cattle, swine and poultry. My passion is in the agricultural industry and livestock production is in my blood. Being involved in this field is a lifestyle, and it is one that I cherish. I would not be the person I am today without the influence I have received from countless agricultural associations, friends and family. I hope to either return to my family’s farm where I can then play an influential role in the business, or obtain a position elsewhere in the livestock production industry. As I finish my sophomore year at Penn State I have chosen to pursue a major in Animal Science because throughout my years of experience, I have discovered that livestock production is what I am truly passionate about. I have also decided to minor in Agribusiness Management in hopes to prepare myself for all areas in which livestock production management could challenge me. There is nothing I love more than going out to the barn to work with the cattle and hogs and their offspring. I love watching them grow and feeling a sense of accomplishment when calves and piglets are strong and healthy. I can say that through my hard work, I have been able to produce a product that helps to feed the world. As a young girl, I was constantly told to find what I’m good at and then follow my heart; the rest will fall into place. That is why I have chosen to have a career involved in livestock production.
