Career Goals: My name is Jessica Lane Lucas and I am proud to say that I grew up in Sampson County, one of the biggest agriculture counties in the state of North Carolina. I just obtained my Associates Degree in Applied Animal Science from Sampson Community College with a 4.0 G.P.A. I am transferring to North Carolina State University this fall so that I can achieve my Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. I ultimately want to become a Veterinarian and work with large animals and livestock. I live in a community that is made possible because of agriculture and I grew up surrounded by hard working men and women who feed the public. I want to become a vet so that I can give back to my community and promote agriculture to the public. I believe in the importance of giving back to the community that helped build you and that is what I plan to do. I am a very goal oriented person and once I have made up my mind about something, nothing can stop me from reaching a goal. I work extremely hard to maintain my grades and with any task that is given to me. I believe in providing the best product for consumers and that involves maintaining our livestock’s health. I know that I will work hard to keep the animals in my care healthy so that they can provide healthy and safe food products for consumers. I am also very passionate about helping animals and I know I am on the right career path. I am planning on paying for as much of my education on my own as possible because I do not want to burden my parents with the task. I know it will take a lot of hard work and dedication, but I am willing to put forth the effort to achieve my goals.
