Katie-Scarlett Loya

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the Targeting Excellence Sponsors, Board of Directors, and State Committees. I truly appreciate being awarded this scholarship, and it greatly helps to offset the costs of my undergraduate education. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Targeting Excellence Clay Shoot this past fall, and I cannot wait to continue supporting this wonderful opportunity for food animal agriculture students in the future.

Career Goals:

Ever since I can remember, I have had the goal to become a veterinarian. At first, it was the love for animals motivating me. Since I started shadowing vets, I realized I want to pursue veterinary medicine because I love people and animals, and I want to help owners understand what is happening to their livestock. In the future, my goal is to attend veterinary school for mixed animal practice. I have a passion for cattle and horses, and I would love to work in an industry where I can creatively solve problems.

After practicing veterinary medicine, I want to give back to my undergraduate or graduate schooling by working as a professor or researcher, continuing to enlighten the next generation of agriculture.
